Our office is located at 4208 S. Santa Rita Ave, Tucson, AZ 85714. From Park and Ajo, travel 1 block south on Ajo to Palmdale. Turn east on Palmdale, follow Palmdale around until it becomes Santa Rita. The Southwest District Senior Olympic office is on the right. Look for the American flag!

Entry Dates

Registration begins on October 19, 2009. Final registration deadline is January 1, 2010 (must be postmarked by). Note: Any registration received after January 2, 2010 will be subject to a $3 per event late fee.

No registrations will be accepted after January 11, 2010 (or postmarked by).

Eligibility

All participants are to participate in the age category of their 2010 birthday. For example: if a gentleman is turning 60 in December of 2010, he is to compete in the 60-64 category (even though he will be 59 at the time of competition).

Age Divisions

Volleyball and 3 on 3 Basketball will compete in the following age brackets: 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+ and 75+, etc. Note: Players must be prepared to show valid picture I.D. with picture.

Competition for the following will be for all ages: Bocce, Bridge, Canasta, Cribbage, Croquet, Euchre, La Caminata Walks, Pinochle, and Quickstart Tennis.

All other competition will be in 5 year increments beginning with 50-54. (Except Tennis: see Tennis event description for details on age groups.)

Note: The 80+ category will be divided into 5 year increments (80-84, 85-89, 90-94, etc.)

Gender Divisions

Men and women will compete separately except for the following events: Aerobics, Bridge, Canasta, Cribbage, Euchre, La Caminata Walks, Pinochle, and Quickstart Tennis..

Entry Information

In addition to mail-in and walk-in registration, there is now a new option of registering on-line at www.ezeereg.com or by phone at (520) 573-3933. See Registration Information for details.

Registration forms and payment can be mailed/walked in to 900 S. Randolph Way, Tucson, AZ 85716. Registration questions can be answered by calling (520) 791-4877.

Individual participants must complete the Individual Events Entry and Waiver Form. Submit the completed form along with appropriate payment for total participation fees.

Partner sports (Badminton, Croquet, Pickleball, Shuffleboard, Table Tennis and Tennis only) are now considered a team sport and you must register using the Doubles Entry and Waiver Form required.

Team Captains/Manager (3 on 3 Basketball, Bocce and Volleyball only) must submit a completed Team Entry Form, Waiver and completed Roster Form along with appropriate participation fees.

Entry Confirmation

Confirmations will be mailed/e-mailed to all participants and teams. If you have not received your confirmation by January 15, 2010, please call the Senior Olympics Office.

For team/doubles events, only the captain/team manager will receive the confirmation.

Please plan to arrive at your event ½ hour before start of your competition unless otherwise specified.

Participation Policies

The following participation policies have been formally established—

 

Medal Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a medal you must compete in at least one heat of your event. Being the lone participant does not guarantee you an award.

Result Ties

Result ties shall be resolved by the events governing Sports Rules. If the tie cannot be broken then all the participants involved in the tie situation will be awarded same place medals.

Non-Registered Participants

Non-registered participants who do not appear on the Coordinator's Registration List will not be able to compete. A walk-on participant who presents his/her confirmation receipt shall be allowed to participate only if his/her addition into the competition does not have a negative impact on the timely administration of the event.

Replacement Participants

Replacement participants who are participating in place of a registered participant shall be allowed to participate only if, he/she is same gender of original participant (gender divisions only), he/she is in the same age group (age divisions only), he/she is registered in another event or will have the opportunity to complete a registration form prior to participating.

Late Arriving Participants

Late arriving participants shall be allowed to participate only if his/her arrival does not have a significant negative impact on the event. Event descriptions and schedule of events indicate an arrival time of a ½ hour prior to event.

General Policy Guidelines

These are general policy guidelines to be followed. The Senior Olympic Office reserves the right to review individual situations to provide final determinations as it deems appropriate.

Weather

In January you can expect cool mornings and sometimes warm afternoons. In case of inclement weather we will make every effort to continue the competitions as scheduled. However, Senior Olympic Festival reserves the right to postpone or cancel events due to inclement weather. Note: No refunds will be given as the result of circumstances beyond our control.

Spectators

Family, friends and the general public are invited to attend all events as spectators free of charge. Exceptions—Opening dinner/dance.

Awards

All awards will be presented on-site following completion of the event. Olympic style medals will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers. Commemorative awards will be given to La Caminata Walk and the Fun Walk.
